My kids have graduated from Hidden Pictures to Brain Teaser books, but they take these Highlights books with them on their babysitting jobs. They’ve introduced many a family to these iconic puzzles, engaging their young charges in old-fashioned (non electronic device) fun. I always pack a couple of pages when I travel. When I find myself seated on a long flight in the same row as a restless child (and an exasperated parent), Hidden Pictures has definitely saved the day.The artwork is top notch featuring a mix of realistic and make-believe line drawings. Some pictures are a riot of color and imagery, while others feature a more bucolic scene with easy-to-find clues (see pictures.) This mix of obvious and challenging, black-and-white with color, and real with made-up scenes, keeps the Hidden Picture brand fresh and exciting. The 280+ sticker pages raises the fun factor.Hidden Pictures is Highlights’ most engaging and rewarding activity. It’s a great project for independent play, but works best as a collaborative project for any age. Keep a couple of these on hand for the young kids in your life.
My 3 year old loves putting the stickers on, but of course I usually have to find the items. The reason I gave 4 stars is because for some reason some of the pages are sealed together so they need to be separated at a perforation, but it's not as easy as it looks and I keep ripping the pages.
My kids (both 5 and 9) love these. My 5-year old liked to have a little help at first but she's gotten very good at them now. I notice that it has helped tune in her perception in other situations. It's very good for the brain to hunt for something it knows it there (so far we have found no errors or omissions). I think then, in "real life" they are able to persevere and use resourcefulness to find answers.I docked a star because several of the same pictures were in two different books. I don't understand why Highlights would double up like this instead of providing all new material. But it's not a deal breaker. Most of the material is new.
So excited to get this for my 5 year old. He has a couple of these that are smaller that he received in the mail randomly and he absolutely loves Highlights Hidden Pictures. This book is much larger than I was expecting (meaning, more pages) and he is thrilled with it! Such a great purchase!
These puzzles are quite difficult. I got this book for my six year old daughter for a road trip. I tried some of them before we left and struggled. I like the fact that some of the puzzles have stickers that you can use when finding the objects. It is definitely unique from other seek-n-finds.
Santa brought this to my 5 year old for Christmas. He LOVES it!!! It has kept his attention for hours at a time. We have fun hunting pictures together too. He was really excited about the sticker pages. It gives the hidden picture game a fun little twist.
My son loves these, he is 4 but his cousin like to play with him up to the age of 12. The sticks and pencil search is nice for variety. We like him to use a crayon or pencil to practice writing ( fine motor skill) but the stickers give him a break too.
I have a 3- and a 4-year-old. They both LOVE this book. The 3yo did not get how to use the stickers, but the 4yo got it with some help initially. We've had this book for months, and each kid still gets it out at least once a week. Plenty of pages. This is a great activity for them to do alone, together, or with a parent. This goes with us to waiting rooms - helps pass the time.
